Wearing this cardigan in my senior year gave me pride: I was the external affairs representative of the Notre Dame Student Council of 2010-2011. Taking on this position gave me so many opportunities. 

The biggest one was being part of the Catholic Student Leadership Impact Team where I got to meet other student leaders and help improve the school board. I was inspired to do more in the world especially things that had to do with social justice and equality. 

I also learned a lot about working with others. Student council tested my patience, tolerance, and time management skills. It definitely taught me how to be mature even when it was very difficult. 

Taking leadership roles was a very rewarding experience.
